Remote Starts

How much does a remote start cost in Alaska?
Remote start installation at Hillside Audio ranges from $349 for a basic one-way system to $799+ for a Compustar two-way system with smartphone control. Diesel vehicles and push-button start vehicles typically require additional bypass modules that can add $75–$150 to the price.
Can I keep my factory key fob working with a remote start?
Absolutely. We use OEM-compatible Compustar bypass modules that fully maintain factory key fob functionality. Your existing buttons work exactly as they did before — nothing is removed or disabled.
Does a remote start affect my factory warranty?
When installed by a certified technician, a remote start does not void your factory warranty. We use Compustar systems with proper bypass modules that integrate cleanly with your vehicle's electronics. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act also protects consumers from voiding warranties with aftermarket accessories.
Can you install a remote start on a diesel truck?
Yes. Diesel remote starts are one of our most popular services in Alaska. We specialize in diesel installations including Ford Powerstroke, Chevrolet Duramax, and Ram Cummins trucks. Diesel systems require extended preheat cycles and proper glow plug integration.
How long does a remote start installation take?
Most remote start installations take 2–4 hours. Push-button start vehicles and diesel trucks may take slightly longer due to the additional bypass programming required.

Car Audio

How much does a car audio system cost?
A basic head unit upgrade with Apple CarPlay starts around $350–$500 installed. A full system with speakers, amplifier, and subwoofer ranges from $1,500–$5,000+. Custom show-build systems can exceed $10,000. We work with every budget.
Will a new head unit work with my factory steering wheel controls?
In most cases, yes. We use steering wheel control adapters (such as iDatalink Maestro) that retain factory button functions on your new aftermarket head unit.
How long does a full audio installation take?
A head unit swap typically takes 1.5–3 hours. A complete system build with amplifiers and subwoofers usually takes a full day. Complex custom builds may require 1–2 days.
Do you do DSP tuning?
Yes. DSP (Digital Signal Processor) tuning is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make to your audio system. We use AudioControl and JL Audio DSP products and perform professional time-alignment and EQ tuning by ear.
